The Homeless Receives M.E.A.T.
He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker,
but whoever is kind to the needy honors God.
Proverbs 14:31 (NIV)
What an awesome reception we received as we provided food and clothing to the homeless!
CARING FOR THE NEEDY IS A BIBLICAL MANDATE. The bible teaches us that we should care for those who are less fortunate.
Rev. Lenora Phelps - Founder of M.E.A.T. Ministries, Rev. Harold Stanley - Pastor of Grace Christian Fellowship Church, Rev. Alice Millsap - Founder of Firm Connection Ministries, and Dr. Dorthea Davis - Founder of Bethesda Ministries are featured below. These four ministers partnered in outreach to provide food, clothing, blankets, hats, gloves, toiletries, water, sweaters, coats and other necessities for the homeless in Downtown Houston. Hundreds of men and women gathered in the parking lot across from the shelter to receive much needed supplies donated by members of the ministries mentioned above.

Blessing bags ran out quickly as we distributed to the waiting crowd. Afterwards, the volunteers gathered together and headed across the street to Loaves and Fishes where lunch was also being served. MEAT donates annualy to Loaves and Fishes. This year was no exception, but we had help! Donations included cases of water and several pounds of green beans, in addition to men and women clothing. What a blessing!
The dictionary defines ministry as "One that serves as a means. An activity by Christians to spread or express their faith." I think I can speak for all who volunteered when I say "We were all so grateful for the opportunity to serve.' It truly was an overwhelming feeling of joy to be able to share with those in need!
We commend our volunteers: Rev. Lenora Phelps, Min. Johnnie Breakfield, Sis. Millie Hall, Deaconess Lovie Holiday, Sis. Rosalyn Peterson, Bro. Tyrone Freeman, Sis. Sandra Freeman, Bro. Charles Millsap, Rev. Alice Millsap, Pastor Harold E. Stanley, Rev. Keldrick Johnson, Bro. Kendrick Albert, Dr. Dorthea Davis, Min. Quentin Bowie, Min. Micheal Roberson and Dr. Cathy Grant. We could not have done it without you!
If you, individually or as a ministry, would like to partner with M.E.A.T. on our next Homeless Project in the Fall, please contact Rev. Lenora Phelps at meatministries@wt.net; and/or if you wish to donated any of the items mentioned above. We welcome your support! Thank you.
