Homelessness is still an epidemic in Houston. On last Saturday M.E.A.T. Ministries canvassed the streets and highways of our city in search for the indigent. Believe me when I say, they were not hard to find. From the Southwest Freeway @ Fondren to Downtown Houston @ Congress, we blessed those in need!

This project was a true blessing. I speak for all of us at M.E.A.T. when I say "God used us to be a blessing to others, but in turn WE were blessed!" The smiles on the faces of the homeless, the interaction and just knowing that "what we take for granted" is monumental to others, moved us speechless! We know that every item donated was appreciated.
"Do you have any shoes? The ones I have pinch my feet." "Do you have a jacket? It gets cold out here." "Thank you so much. Do you want us to line up?" "I didn't know you were passing out Charmin!" "Do you have a bus to pick us up to go to church?" "Yeah, I know who God is, and I know my situation won't always be like this." These were just some of the comments that we encountered on Saturday. After passing out all the bags we had - and we ran out quick; we began passing out clothes, shoes, toilet tissue and towels. As the homeless surrounded the SUV loaded with donations, it was obvious to us that they were very grateful.
Because of the Alpha Team and Board of Directors of M.E.A.T. Ministries, this project a huge success! We gave from our hearts and we gave BIG! We had food, water, clothing, deodorant, tooth brushes, tooth paste, razors, powder, soap, wipes, toiletries, money, Christian literature, throws, gloves, hats, fleece shirts, t-shirts, sweaters, jackets, and a whole lot more. We even had extra to give to Loaves and Fishes Homeless Shelter. They welcomed our donations with smiles and thanks. Isn't God good?
The need is great saints! So, start stacking up on items you can donate - this will not be our last time doing this project! As a matter of fact, I have promised the homeless in the Congress Street area that we will be back next month. "See you next month Sis. Phelps!" one of the homeless yelled out as we left the parking lot! I know God will help us to keep this promise! You can be a part of this worthy cause by contacting us at meatministries@wt.net to make donations or arrange for donation pickup. If it is His will, we plan to go back to this location the first Saturday in December with whatever items we can donate. God IS good all the time - and all the time God IS good!
